SARNIA – It’s official.
Point guard Keianna Cambridge has officially announced her commitment to Head Coach Janine Day and the Lambton Women’s Basketball Program for the 2025-26 season, and beyond.
Cambridge is the fifth member of the 2025 recruiting class for Day and company. She joins a talented recruiting class that also consists of Alexis Hinds (Stratford, Ont.), Ava Grant (Marysville, Michigan), Lillian Bernard (Sarnia, Ont.), and Malina Lopez (Milton, Ont.).
The pair of Cambridge and Lopez both made their commitments official in front of dozens of family members and friends at a signing event at the Milton Sports Centre on Sunday afternoon.
“I’m very excited for what’s to come,” said Cambridge. “I was a bit nervous leading up to today, but overall, it was great, and I can’t wait to get started.”
“I’m looking forward to playing a higher level of basketball. I’m also looking forward to meeting new people and getting away from Burlington and having new experiences at Lambton College.”
Cambridge, a five-foot-five point guard, comes to Lambton College by way of Corpus Christi Catholic Secondary School in Burlington. Cambridge played for the Longhorns Senior Girls Basketball Program in the fall, helping the team a Halton Catholic Athletic Association (HCAA) Championship after posting a 7-1 record in the regular season.
In the finals, Cambridge and the Longhorns knocked off Lopez and the Bishop Reding Royals to win Gold, 53-45.
Outside of high school, Cambridge is teammates with Lopez with the Halton Region JUEL Program.
For Day, it’s the elements of versatility and athleticism in Keianna’s game that has her excited about the potential that Cambridge brings to the Lambton roster moving forward.
“Keianna joins the Lions after having played years of high-level basketball,” said Day. “She is an athletic and versatile player who will create problems for opponents on both ends of the court.”
“Offensively, on the wing, she is a creative slasher. On the defensive end, she will add to our ability to play an up-tempo style. Keianna brings a passion for the game that is an element that we pride our program in, and we are excited to have her in a Lions uniform this fall.”
Academically, Cambridge will be enrolled in the Occupational Therapist Assistant and Physiotherapist Assistant Program at Lambton College.
When Cambridge was asked what Lambton fans can expect to see from her on the court when September rolls around, she was quick to respond. The response was only two words, but both words echoed Coach Day’s words about her newest recruit.
Elite defense.
Welcome to The Den, Keianna!
