OCAA Hall of Fame

The Ontario Colleges Athletic Association (OCAA) Hall of Fame is dedicated to the recognition of extraordinary contributions and accomplishments within collegiate sports in Ontario. The honoured members include student-athletes, coaches and builders of the Association.

Below is the list of OCAA Hall of Fame inductees representing the Athletics & Recreation Department at Lambton College. 

 

 

  • Kristen Lawson - Women's Volleyball - Inducted 2015

  • Kristen Lawson played for two women’s volleyball programs during her OCAA career. With Lambton College, she was named Defensive Player of the Year in 2008-09 and 2009-10. She was named team MVP in 2008-09 and 2010-11, her final season.
  • Kristen was named an OCAA First Team All-Star in 2010-11. She is a four time OCAA All-Academic and named a CCAA All-Academic in 2010-11. Kristen received an alumni association excellence award and women's volleyball dedication award from Lambton College.

 

  • Shelly Bertrand - Women's Volleyball - Inducted 2011

  • Shelly Bertrand enjoyed a great career during her two seasons as a Lion. During her playing career she was named Female Athlete of the Year in 2001-02 and was awarded the Lambton College Alumni Excellence award in the same year.
  • She also finished the season with 3.2 points per game in 2001-02, which is second all-time in Lambton Women’s Volleyball history. Bertrand is a graduate of the Fire Science program.

 

  • Steve Pepper - Men's Basketball - Inducted 2011

  • Steve Pepper began his basketball career as a player and continued later as a coach. During his four year playing tenure, he served as team captain for two years and was voted the Lambton’s Varsity Athlete of the Year in 1990-91. He was a Division II silver medalist, Championship All-Star and a part of the team that broke a three- point record.
  • Pepper joined the coaching staff as an assistant right after his playing days for the Lions were done. He stayed on as assistant for two seasons before being promoted to head coach, which he held for 18 years. During his time as coach he was named the OCAA West Division Coach of the Year Twice.

 

  • Kathy Arcuri - Women's Basketball - Inducted 2009

  • A native of Sarnia, Kathy Arcuri is the second all-time Lambton College scoring leader and all-time leader in games played for women's basketball.
  • Arcuri led the Lions to an OCAA Division II championship in the 1980-81 season. The following year, the team competed in the provincial championships where Arcuri was named a championship all-star for her stellar play on the court. For these achievements and outstanding athletic ability, Arcuri was named Female Athlete of the Year.

 

  • Matt Stevers - Men's Basketball - Inducted 2009

  • Matt Stevers played basketball for the Lions and today remains in Lambton's history books as the fifth all-time scoring leader with an average of 18.0 points per game. He scored 108 field goals in the 2003-04 season alone, 39 of which beyond the three-point arc.
  • Stevers was also named an OCAA first-team all-star in 2002-03 and 2003-04 seasons. He was awarded for his athletic and academic achievement in 2004 earning the CCAA academic all-Canadian award and was also named Lambton College's Male Athlete of the Year.

 

  • Andrea Brown - Badminton - Inducted 2007

  • Andrea Brown excelled in each and every aspect of badminton. In her first year with the Lions, the right-hander swept her way through the competition, going an undefeated (7-0) on her way to the gold medal in women's singles at the provincial championship. Brown followed up her freshmen season with another OCAA gold medal in women's singles, posting her second consecutive 7-0 championship record. At the CCAA national championship, Brown won the silver medal capping off her colligate career.
  • Brown is considered one of Lambton's top badminton athletes as her movement around the court was often described as effortless. She displayed perfect fundamentals while putting constant pressure on her opponents to make costly errors. The Saint John, N.B., native now dedicates her time working in Community Mental Health Services and continues to play both badminton and tennis.

 

  • Patrick Donker - Cross Country - Inducted 2007

  • Between 2001 and 2003, Patrick dominated OCAA cross country earning three individual medals as well as three team medals. During his freshmen year, Donker earned Lambton's first gold medal in the sport as he bolted to a first place finish at the OCAA championships. Over the next two years, Donker led the Lions to three team medals, while grabbing third place individually in 2002 and 2003. At the national level, Donker helped Team Ontario pick up a silver medal as he finished ninth overall.
  • Donker was named Lambton's Male Varsity Athlete of the Year in 2001-02 and was named the 2002-03 Sportsmanlike Athlete of the Year. He was a member of the OCAA All-Ontario team for three consecutive seasons, while earning an OCAA All-Academic award during two years of studies. The Lambton College Alumni Association honoured him as the Excellence Award dinner, capping off his excellent varsity career.
