Lions Open 2024 Recruiting Class with Commitment from Blenheim Forward Madison Fink

SARNIA – Don’t call it a rebuild, but rather a reload.

Forward Madison Fink has officially announced her commitment to Head Coach Janine Day and the reigning OCAA Women’s Basketball Gold Medalists from Lambton College for the 2024-25 season, and beyond.

Fink is the first official commitment in what is a talented and versatile group of incoming recruits for Day and the rest of her coaching staff ahead of the new season in September.

“I’m very excited to play here at Lambton College,” said Fink. “I’ve always wanted to play in post-secondary, so I’m really looking forward to start and get things going here.”

“When I came here for my visits, all of the girls (on the team) were so welcoming to me, so I’m excited to now be part of the team and coming together with the group.”

Fink, a six-foot-four forward, comes to Lambton College from Blenheim District High School in her hometown of Blenheim. This past Fall, Fink and the Bobcats Senior Girls Basketball Team put together a 6-2 record in the Lambton Kent Secondary School Athletic Association (LKSSAA) regular season, finishing third in the standings.

In the Bobcats’ season opener, Fink had 26 points in a win over Tilbury. Later in the season, she went for 25 points on the road in a win over Chatham Christian.

Outside of high school, Fink plays for the Windsor St. Clair JUEL Program for Head Coach Shannon Kennedy.

“We are ecstatic to have Madison in a Lions uniform this Fall,” said Day. “She is an impact post player who will immediately help us on both ends of the floor.”

“Not only does she bring a presence in the paint, but she can also step outside and hit shots. Madison is extremely coachable and has played at a highly competitive level.”

Academically, Fink will be enrolled in the Nursing Program at Lambton College.

The Women’s Basketball Team is coming off a historic season for the program. Day and the Lions won the team’s first-ever West Division regular season title, and they translated that into postseason success as they won their first OCAA Championship on their home court. From there, they went onto compete at the 2024 CCAA Women’s Basketball National Championships in Lloydminster, Alberta, where they brought home a CCAA Silver Medal.

Heading into the 2024-25 season, they have their sights set on doing it all again. With several key contributors from last year’s team having graduated, Day and the coaching staff set out on the recruiting trail to address those gaps on the roster. The commitment of Fink adds size and depth to the front court, while her shooting ability adds versatility and flexibility to the lineup for years to come.

Welcome to The Den, Madison!
