SARNIA – The local kid is staying home.
Guard Jack Vozza has officially committed to Head Coach James Grant and the Lambton Men’s Basketball Program for the 2025-26 season, and beyond.
Vozza is the 11th commitment in the 2025 recruiting class for Grant and the rest of the Lions coaching staff as the team continues to reload with talent ahead of the 2025-26 campaign. Vozza joins a talented crop of incoming recruits that features the likes of Blake Redfern (Mitchell, Ont.), Liam Tosh (Brantford, Ont.), Traivon Hayes (Brantford, Ont.), Billy Van Boxtel (London, Ont.), Kadin Cantrell (Port Huron, Michigan), Mekhi Wilson (Burlington, Ont.), Milos Lukac (Hamilton, Ont.), Matthew Kment (Sault Ste. Marie, Ont.), Mike Decius (Hamilton, Ont.), and Jack Small (Mitchell, Ont.).
“I’m very excited,” said Vozza after making his collegiate commitment official with an abundance of family, friends, and coaches in attendance. “I’m glad that everyone was able to come out for the signing, and I’m ready for the season to come.”
“I’m looking forward to joining the team at Lambton. They’re a great group of guys and I’m ready to get to work with them on the court.”
Vozza, a six-foot guard, comes to Lambton College from Northern Collegiate Institute and Vocational School in Sarnia. He played under Head Coach Chris Jones for the Vikings Senior Boys Basketball Program.
This past season, Vozza and the Vikings posted a 7-3 record in the regular season to finish tied for second in the AAA division. A win over St. Patrick’s in the semifinals sent the Vikings into the AAA final against Ursuline College, who went undefeated in the regular season. The Vikings came out on the wrong end of a 71-52 decision, finishing the year with a second-place finish in the playoffs.
Vozza is the first player from Sarnia-Lambton to commit to the Men’s Basketball Program this season, and Coach Grant is excited about his decision to stay at home and play for his hometown college.
“We are really happy to add Jack to our roster,” said Grant. “Any time we can get a strong local player to join our squad, we want to make it happen.”
“Jack loves the game and is willing to work hard for his hometown school. He loves being in the gym, and he can shoot the rock. We are looking forward to seeing Jack develop as a Lion.”
For Vozza, having the opportunity to represent his hometown of Sarnia and his local college at the collegiate level isn’t lost on him. Having his friends and family close by is something that he’s looking forward to as he makes the transition from high school to post-secondary.
“It means a lot,” added Vozza, on having his family and friends be able to watch him play for the Lions. “They provide me with support like no other, so it gives me a huge boost of confidence.”
Academically, Vozza will be enrolled in the Border Services Program at Lambton College.
