Lions Land Commitment from Montreal Born Guard Alex Yeboah Ahead of 2024-25 Season

SARNIA – Made another splash on the recruiting trail.

Coveted guard Alex Yeboah has officially announced his commitment to Head Coach James Grant and the Lambton Men’s Basketball Program for the 2024-25 season, and beyond.

Yeboah is the latest addition to the Men’s Basketball Program in what quickly became a talented 2024 recruiting class for Coach Grant and his coaching staff, one that has helped create a heightened level of excitement surrounding the program for the season ahead and years to come.

In front of a large group of his family and friends who were in attendance for his commitment signing, Yeboah announced his decision to commit to the Lions over a handful of other OCAA and U Sports programs.

“I feel very happy about today,” said Yeboah after making his commitment official. “A lot of family and friends came out to show their love and support, so it was very nice how everything turned out today.”

“At this age, I’m ready for the next chapter. I’m ready to continue my academic and athletic journeys.”

Yeboah, a six-foot-three guard who was born in Montreal, comes to Lambton College by way of St. Thomas Aquinas Secondary School in Brampton where he played for the Cardinals under the guidance of Head Coach Steve Doran.

Outside of high school, Yeboah suits up for the Peel Elite Monstars program. The Monstars won the Ball Nation Basketball Summer Classic back at the beginning of June.

Yeboah attended a workout in Sarnia earlier this year, and that’s when he jumped onto Coach Grant’s radar. Yeboah’s talents on both ends stood out to the coaching staff, and they’re thrilled to have him wear Lambton colours come September.

“Alex turned heads when he came to Sarnia for a workout earlier this year,” said Grant. “He’s a great athlete who works incredibly hard at his game.”

“He has the ability to defend multiple positions, and he can also play above the rim. “On top of that, he’s a nice fit for our team culture moving ahead.”

Those words were echoed by Yeboah when asked what Lambton fans can expect to see from him on the court this coming year.

“I’m a pest on defense,” added Yeboah. “Fans will see high intensity, high energy on and off the court.”

“I love being a team player and getting people into the game. It’s going to be fun.”

Yeboah is the 12th member of the 2024 recruiting class for the Lions after a sizeable roster turnover following the 2023-24 season. He brings more versatility to the roster, which will give the coaches more creativity when it comes to different lineups and slotting players into different spots on the court based on matchups.

Welcome to The Den, Alex!
