Forward Tyler Grevers Returns to Lambton College for his Final Year of Eligibility

SARNIA – Back to where it all began.

Forward Tyler Grevers has announced his commitment to Head Coach James Grant and the Lambton Men’s Basketball Program, for the second such time in his post-secondary career, ahead of the 2024-25 season.

Grevers is the ninth member of the 2024 recruiting class for Grant and his coaching staff, one that has helped re-tool the roster for both the immediate season and for the next few years that lie ahead. Grevers joins a talented recruiting class that features Loghan LeBlanc (New Waterford, N.S.), Owen Newell (Brussels, Ont.), Cory King (Toronto, Ont.), Jaxson Halward (Woodstock, Ont.), Darius Schmidt (Waterdown, Ont.), Samuel Isaac (Winkler, Man.), Clayton Burgess (Tillsonburg, Ont.), and Julian Brooks-Cannon (Woodstock, Ont.).

“I’m super excited to be coming back here,” said Grevers. “Obviously, I loved my time here when I played my first three years, and Lambton College has been a big part of my past but it’s also going to be a big piece of my future.”

“It’s a different scenario this time around. We had guys like Branden Padgett and Jason Marshell in my first year, and I played with Jason Watts in my final season. Now, we’ve got a new group of guys coming in, some of whom I’ve coached, but overall, it’s going to be fun.”

Grevers, a six-foot-seven forward from Woodstock, makes his return to Lambton College after a couple of years away at the University of Windsor. The College Avenue Secondary School alum played his first three years of collegiate basketball for the Lions from 2017-18 to 2019-20, graduating from the Sports & Recreation Management Program before progressing onto the University of Windsor to complete his degree.

Over his three years with the Lions, Grevers played in 34 regular season games. He then went on and played one season for the Lancers in 2021-22 after the COVID-19 pandemic cancelled the 2020-21 campaign.

Now, Grevers returns to Lambton College for his fifth and final year of eligibility. It will be a season that sees several paths cross in Grevers’ life. As he closes his collegiate career in a Lambton uniform once again, Grevers will suit up alongside several players he’s coached in recent years with the Oxford Attack U19 program, a situation that he’s looking forward to as he can continue to mentor the younger players while closing out his collegiate career where things all started.

Academically, Grevers will be enrolled in the Recreation Therapy – Accelerated Program at Lambton College.

Throughout his years away from Lambton College, Grevers has improved his game on both ends of the floor through playing and training with the Windsor Lancers, and through coaching with the Attack program. As he gears up for his return to the Lions,

“One of the things that I was able to do at Windsor was work on my shooting and I built that up,” added Grevers when he was asked what the new crop of Lambton fans can expect to see from him on the floor. “I’m still athletic and I’ll grab rebounds, and I’m quicker getting up and down the floor.”

Then, Grevers added one more line with a smile on his face.

“I’m going to be the new Jason Watts!”

At his commitment signing, Grevers happily donned a black #42 Lambton jersey for his photo op for a little fun at the expense of one of his former teammates. The last person to wear #42 at Lambton College?

Grevers’ former teammate, Jason Watts.

Welcome (back) to The Den, Tyler!
