London Lightning Outfielder Robyn Denomme Commits to Lambton Women’s Softball ahead of 2024 Season

SARNIA – Lightning strikes again on the recruiting trail for the Women’s Softball Program.

Outfielder Robyn Denomme has officially committed to Head Coach Greg Shortt and the Lambton Women’s Softball Program ahead of the 2024 season.

Denomme is the fifth member of the 2024 recruiting class for Shortt and the rest of his coaching staff. Denomme joins the likes of Gracie Harse (Petrolia, Ont.), Mikenna Verschueren (Tillsonburg, Ont.), Alley McLean (Corunna, Ont.), and Elisabeth Bailey (London, Ont.) in the newest group of newcomers for the Women’s Softball Program ahead of the 2024 season.

“I’m really excited to start this new journey,” said Denomme. “I’m excited to meet the girls and to play my best and help the team however I can.”

“I’m very loud in the field, and I try my hardest to get to every ball that’s hit my way and get them into the infield as fast as I can.”

Denomme, a five-foot-two outfielder, comes to Lambton College by way of South Huron District High School in Exeter. She is the latest player to commit to the Women’s Softball Program at Lambton College from the London Lightning organization, and Denomme is the third player from the Lightning to commit as part of the 2024 class (Verschueren, Bailey).

The trio of Denomme, Bailey, and Verschueren are teammates on the 2024 U19 London Lightning Blue roster this summer. The group are coming off a tournament win at the SMARTS Slugfest in Monroe, Michigan at the end of June.

They are now preparing for their PWSA Provincials Tournament in Peterborough as they hope to qualify for Eastern Canadians in Newfoundland in mid-August.

Denomme will bring quickness and high intensity to the outfield rotation for the Lions, and she’ll even lay her body on the line to make a catch in the field. Shortt is excited about the potential that Denomme brings to the 2024 roster for the Lions on the diamond, and for the future of the program with her in tow.

Academically, Denomme will be enrolled in the Pre-Service Firefighter Training & Education Program at Lambton College.

The Lions are coming off a 2023 season that saw the program once again contend for a playoff spot on the final weekend of the regular season for the second year in a row. Despite coming up short, the Lions continued to make positive strides in their second season in the OCAA, and they have their sights set on a post-season berth in 2024.

The addition of Denomme to the mix adds depth in the outfield and adds another element of speed on the basepaths, both of which help to increase the levels of excitement and anticipation ahead of the 2024 season.

Welcome to The Den, Robyn!
