SARNIA – From Port Hope to Sarnia.
Breanna Rowe (Port Hope, Ont.) has officially committed to Head Coach Greg Shortt and the Lambton Women’s Softball Program for the 2025 season, and beyond.
Rowe is the second commitment in the 2025 recruiting class for Shortt and the rest of his coaching staff. Come September, Rowe will join Lilly Klompstra (Sombra, Ont.) as a newcomer in a Lambton uniform when the new season gets underway.
“I feel pretty excited,” said Rowe. “I’m happy that I don’t have to give up playing softball after high school, so I’m excited that I have some more years with it.”
“I’m looking forward to meeting new friends on the team and having new experiences at the college level, both on the diamond and in the classroom. Overall, I’m just really excited for what’s to come at Lambton.”
Rowe, a five-foot-seven pitcher and second baseman, comes to Lambton College by way of Port Hope and Port Hope High School. On the diamond, she’s played for the Clarington Ravens softball program for the last five seasons. While she primarily serves as a pitcher, Rowe also spends considerable time at second base.
She also has the ability to play shortstop and at all three spots in the outfield, bringing with her a level of versatility that is a welcome addition to the program going forward.
Outside of softball, Rowe has also played hockey throughout her life.
On the field, Rowe expects to show a lot of emotion for the Lions. But, when the time comes, she knows when to dial things back and focus on the task at-hand.
“At the start of the game, you’ll see (a lot of) excitement, emotion, and happiness,” added Rowe. “Once I get in the game, you got to focus because you’ve got to get the job done.”
“Back on the bench, it’s all talk, all cheering, and being super loud to cheer on my teammates.”
Academically, Rowe will be enrolled in the Pre-Service Firefighter Education & Training Program at Lambton College.
For Shortt, he is excited about the potential that Rowe brings to the group.
“We’re excited about adding Breanna to our program,” said Shortt. “I’ve been impressed with her work ethic as she has been training all offseason long.”
“Breanna will help to provide some depth to our pitching staff, as well as the flexibility to play other positions when needed.”
Welcome to The Den, Breanna!
