Lions Bolster Rotation, Infield Depth with Commitment of Bradford Product Brady Wynne

SARNIA – Added a proven Wynne-r on the diamond to the Men’s Baseball program.

Brady Wynne has officially announced his commitment to Head Coach Al Bezaire and the Lambton Men’s Baseball Program for the 2024-25 season, and beyond.

Wynne is the sixth member of the 2024 recruiting class for Bezaire and company. Wynne joins a talented and versatile recruiting class that features the likes of Kale Murray (Mitchell, Ont.), Luke Murray (Mitchell, Ont.), Drew Bunda (Wallaceburg, Ont.), AJ Edwards (Brampton, Ont.), and Bryson Steckle (Zurich, Ont.).

“We are excited to be adding yet another player who has been highly spoken of as being extremely coachable, a hard worker, and most importantly, a great teammate,” said Bezaire. “Ideally, we are aiming to see Brady come in and battle for a rotation spot and provide some meaningful innings on the bump.”

“We are looking forward to seeing what Brady can contribute to our club. He is yet another versatile player who we hope can contribute at a few different positions and at the plate.”

Wynne, a six-foot pitcher / infielder, comes to Lambton College from Bradford, Ontario and Bradford District High School, where he played for the Bucs senior baseball program. Wynne and the Bucs won the Simcoe County Athletic Association (SCAA) Championship this past season.

After a season opening loss to Maple Ridge S.S. back on May 2nd, the Bucs rattled off nine straight wins in the regular season and playoffs to win their third-consecutive SCAA title and advance to OFSAA in Windsor.

Outside of high school, Wynne plays for the Newmarket Hawks 18U Program.

Looking ahead to September, Wynne is excited for the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead of him at Lambton College, both in the classroom and on the diamond.

“I can’t wait to start my Lambton journey,” said Wynne. “I’m looking forward to joining the Men’s Baseball Program and proving what I can do on the diamond.”

“It’s also a good opportunity to meet new people, which I’m excited about. Overall, I’m very happy.”

Wynne brings another level of versatility to the Lambton roster for the 2024 season. While he primarily serves as a pitcher, he can also play multiple positions in the infield, giving Bezaire and his assistant coaches multiple options for their lineup card game in and game out.

When he steps onto the diamond in a Lambton jersey for the first time come September, Wynne is excited to showcase his versatility.

“I can get pretty fired up at times out there,” added Wynne with a smile. ““I think I’m a pretty fun player to watch, and I’m a pretty versatile player who will do anything to help our group win.”

“On the mound, I like to throw pretty hard and hopefully strike people out.”

Academically, Wynne will be enrolled in the Welding Techniques Program at Lambton College.

The Lions are coming off a 2023 season that saw them contend for a spot in the postseason on the final day of the regular season, but they ultimately fell short by a game. Still, it was another season of forward progress for the group, and they have their sights set on continuing their positive progression in 2024.

As the host institution for the 2024 OCAA Men’s Baseball Championships in October, the Lions will be guaranteed a spot in the six-team field. Still, Bezaire and company want to go out and earn their spot in the field. With the addition of Wynne to the mix, they’ve added another arm to their pitching rotation while further improving the infield depth.

The Lions open the 2024 season on Sunday, September 8th at Fanshawe. Their home opener is set for Saturday, September 14th against the Sheridan Bruins at Errol Russell Park.

Welcome to The Den, Brady!
