SARNIA – What a week it was for these two.
First year catcher Steele Harris (Men’s Baseball) and second-year runner Triniti Boucher (Women’s Cross Country) have been named the Lambton Student-Athletes of the Week for the week of October 9th to 15th for their efforts on the diamond and on the trails.
Harris, a first-year catcher from Sarnia, did some damage at the plate for the Lions during their doubleheader against the Fanshawe Falcons on Wednesday night. In two games, Harris went 2-for-4 at the plate, hitting his first career OCAA home run in the process.
In the bottom of the third inning in Game One, Harris connected on a 2-2 pitch and sent it over the left field fence for the two-run shot to give the Lions an early 2-0 lead. Later, he would pick up his sixth double of the season.
In Game Two, Harris went 0-for-1 at the plate with two walks.
For the season, Harris had a .350 batting average (14-for-40) and a .575 slugging percentage in 14 games. He recorded nine RBIs and seven extra base hits for the year.
Boucher, a second-year runner from Sarnia, continued her strong season on the trails at the Centennial Invitational in Scarborough. Boucher picked up her third consecutive top-20 finish of the season with a 13th-place finish on Saturday afternoon.
Saturday’s race was a bit of redemption for Boucher. Last season on the same course, Boucher saw her season come to an early end after she tore her Achilles during the race. After a cautious start to the 2023 race, Boucher settled in and made her push in the second half to finish in 13th.
This season, Boucher finished 12th at the season opening race hosted by Fanshawe, and then followed that up with a 17th-place finish at the Seneca Invitational at the end of September.
