SARNIA – Just a pair of veterans doing veteran things.
Guard Jerry Wilson (Men’s Basketball) and wing Breanna Pretty (Women’s Basketball) have been named the Lambton Student-Athletes of the Week for the week of January 20th to 26th for their efforts on the road throughout the last seven days.
It marks the second Athlete of the Week honour for both Wilson and Pretty during the 2024-25 season. Both student-athletes were named Athletes of the Week back on December 2nd, 2024.
Wilson, a fifth-year guard from Detroit, put together another pair of consistent performances for the Lions on the road. Wilson now has 12 games with at least 10 points on his resume this season after this week’s performances at St. Clair and Canadore.
For the week, Wilson averaged 16.5 points, 4.5 rebounds, and 1.5 steals per game. He shot a combined 8-of-20 (40.0%) from the field and 6-of-9 (66.7%) from three-point range. Wilson was also a perfect 11-for-11 from the free throw line.
On Wednesday night against St. Clair, Wilson scored a team-high 25 points, on 6-of-11 shooting, to go along with three rebounds and one assist. He was a perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line on the night.
Wilson added eight points and six rebounds on Saturday afternoon in North Bay against Canadore.
For the year, Wilson is averaging 14.7 points and 3.5 rebounds per contest. He’s shooting 34.9% from the field and 42.1% from three-point range through 15 games.
Pretty, a fifth-year wing from Sarnia, added yet another honour to an already impressive OCAA resume. Against St. Clair on Wednesday in Windsor, a night in which the Lions picked up a 78-64 win over the Saints, Pretty entered the 1,000-point club for her Lambton career.
In the win, Pretty finished the game with 32 points, on 9-of-14 shooting from the field and 10-of-11 from the free throw line. She added 11 rebounds, four assists, and five steals.
Entering the game, Pretty needed just 10 points to eclipse the 1,000-point mark for her career. In the first quarter, Pretty scored seven straight points midway through the frame to set the tone. At the 4:41 mark of the first quarter, Pretty hit a pair of free throws to secure her spot in the 1,000-point club.
Pretty scored 12 of her game-high 32 points in the first quarter, and she had 16 points in each half.
For the year, Pretty is averaging 17.2 points per game, which ranks third in the OCAA. She’s also inside the top ten in rebounding, averaging 9.2 rebounds per contest.
Congratulations to both Jerry and Breanna on being named this week’s Lambton Student-Athletes of the Week!
