Lambton College Set to Host 2024 OCAA Women’s Basketball Final Four from March 2-3

Lambton College Set to Host 2024 OCAA Women’s Basketball Final Four from March 2-3

SARNIA – The OCAA Final Four is coming to Sarnia.

The Lambton Women’s Basketball Program will have home court advantage for the 2024 OCAA Women’s Basketball Final Four as they vie for their first OCAA Championship at the top level.

With their win over the Humber Hawks on Saturday, February 24th, and by virtue of their top seed in the West Division during the regular season, the Lions have secured the right to compete for an OCAA medal on their home court.

Under the new OCAA format, the top remaining seed will host the Final Four each season. If both divisions have the matching top seed advancing, the OCAA will rotate divisions that will host. In even years, the tiebreaker goes to the West Division, meaning the Lions host this season despite the Algonquin Wolves (1st in the East) also advancing to the Final Four.

The schedule for the weekend is as follows:

Saturday, March 2nd

5:00 p.m.: Lambton Lions (1st; West) vs. Niagara Knights (3rd; West)

7:30 p.m.: Algonquin Wolves (1st; East) vs. St. Clair Saints (2nd; West)

Sunday, March 3rd

2:30 p.m.: OCAA Bronze Medal Game

5:00 p.m.: OCAA Gold Medal Game

All four games will be streamed online through OCAA Live.

Tickets for the weekend's games will be sold at the door on each game day. Single day tickets are $10.00, and that covers both games on that day. A two-day weekend pass is $15.00, and that gets you into the gymnasium for both days.

The Lions are coming off an OCAA Silver Medal during the 2022-23 season, and they will be looking to do one better this time around in front of their hometown crowd. Head Coach Janine Day and the Lions put together a 14-2 record in the regular season to secure the program’s first West Division title.

It will mark the first time that the Women’s Basketball Program have hosted the provincial championship, and the second time in the last four years that Lambton College has hosted a basketball provincial championship inside the Cestar Group Athletics & Fitness Complex. Lambton College last hosted the 2020 OCAA Men’s Basketball Championship.
