Mens Soccer Season Recap

Mens Soccer Season Recap

Lambton's Men's Soccer Program completed their 2016 season falling one point short of a playoff spot in the extremely competitive OCAA West Division. Despite missing the playoffs, the Lions season was successful in many ways.  A 4 – 6 record saw the Lions collect 12 points, the highest point total for men's program in over a decade and the 3rd highest point total in the college history. Wins against OCAA Final Eight teams Redeemer and Mohawk were among the impressive team results.  Extremely hard fought 2-1 losses to provincially ranked St. Clair and Fanshawe highlight the character and competitiveness of this year's team.

In addition to team success, 2016 also saw some tremendous individual accomplishments for members of the team.  3rd Year striker Richael O'Neill (Sarnia) became the All Time Scoring Leader for the Lambton College Men's Soccer Program.  A goal against Redeemer during the Lion's Home opener put his name in the Lambton record books and capped off a tremendously successful career at Lambton.

2nd Year Goalkeeper Zach Moniz (St. Thomas) earned the Top Goalkeeper Award for the West Division after finishing among the top three in all OCAA statistical categories for goalkeepers.  His fantastic performance earned Zach a Western Division All-Star Nomination.

The coaching staff is extremely proud of the 2016 team and their accomplishments.  This could not be done without the hard work and dedication of the graduating players which include Richael O'Neill (Sarnia), Andriano Sfalcin (Sarnia), Elliot Pecora (Sarnia), Andre Fluegel (Cobden), Zach Moniz (St. Thomas), and Jovan Arcuri (Sarnia).   We wish them all the best as they leave Lambton.  They have laid an excellent foundation for the returning players as the Lions look to take the next step in 2017.
