New Waterford’s Loghan LeBlanc Commits to Lambton Men’s Basketball for 2024-25 Season

SARNIA – Making waves on the East Coast.

Wing Loghan LeBlanc (New Waterford, Nova Scotia) has committed to Head Coach James Grant and the Lambton Men’s Basketball Program for the 2024-25 season. He is the first player to commit to the Lions as part of the 2024 recruiting class.

“We’re happy to be adding Loghan to our program,” said Coach Grant. “He’s an athletic player that can shoot and rebound, both of which are areas where we want to improve next season.”

“He’s also a great fit for our culture as he works hard and is a great communicator. We are really looking forward to him arriving on campus this Fall.”

When asked about making his commitment to the Lions official, LeBlanc was quick to reciprocate the level of excitement.

“I’m excited to get going here,” said LeBlanc. “Being so far away from home is always tough, but I feel like this is going to quickly become my new home.”

“From watching the games online and seeing the atmosphere in the gym, and then watching the guys play throughout the year, it seemed like an amazing place to continue my basketball and education journeys.”

Academically, LeBlanc will enroll in the Police Foundations Program at Lambton College.

LeBlanc is the first player to commit to the Men’s Basketball Program from the Maritimes. The six-foot-four wing currently attends the Breton Education Centre where he plays for the Bears varsity basketball program.

During his time with the Bears so far, LeBlanc has been part of back-to-back provincial championship teams (2022, 2023) and helped guide the Bears to a championship win in the 2023 New Waterford Coal Bowl Classic, their first since 2016. He will look to help the Bears secure a third straight provincial championship and defend their Coal Bowl title before joining the Lions in September.

When he makes his Lions debut in the Fall, LeBlanc wants Lambton fans to know that they’ll see “nothing but hard work” from him, both on and off the court. Whether it is in practice, in games, or in the classroom, he is ready to do whatever he can to make sure that both he and the program are as successful as possible.

With LeBlanc added to the mix going forward, the Lions are building towards a successful future while still staying focused on the task at-hand this season. Sitting at 5-5 at the midway point of the 2023-24 season, the Lions are gearing up for a second-half push as they look to reclaim a spot on the OCAA podium after a fourth-place finish in 2022-23.

Welcome to The Den, Loghan!
