Lucier Heading to Germany with 1st Pro Contract

SARNIA,ON – The all-time leading scorer from the Lambton Lions Men's Basketball team is heading overseas to pursue a professional career. Forest native Mike Lucier has signed on with the Dragons Rhoendorf, a professional basketball club based in Bad Honnef, Germany.

Lucier, the all-time scoring leader in Lambton College history finished his final season with the squad being named Ontario Colleges Athletic Association (OCAA) Defensive Player of the Year and as a Western Division All-Star.

In the 2015/2016 season, the 6'7" forward lead the Lambton Lions to a third place finish in the OCAA playoffs, landing the team their first medal in 24 years.

Lucier was a five-year starter for the Lambton Lions and finished his college career ranking 7th in all-time points in Ontario college history.

"I think that everyone familiar with Lambton Lions basketball knows how important Mike has been to the growth of this program," says Lion's Head Coach James Grant, who has coached Lucier for the past five seasons. "When you look back at where our basketball program started, and where we are now, you see Mike's mark on all of it. He's a great player and a great person. He works extremely hard on and off the court, and he definitely deserves this opportunity. We're all very proud of him."

Lucier signed the official contract with his new club on July 22 at Lambton College. He'll be heading to Germany to lace up with his new team on August 15.
