Lambton Travels to Sault to Battle Cougars

WOMEN: The Lambton women travel north with the intention of securing a playoff berth for the first time since 2011-12. The Lions, 7-9 in OCAA West play, sit in a tie for sixth spot with the Redeemer Royals with a game in hand.

The Lions will face a 4-12 Sault College team who are on a bit of an upswing, winning three games so far this semester. Niagara, who is 8-9 on the year, receives an automatic bid to the provincial tournament as hosts.

Lambton is led by Riley Williams with 15.6 points per game, Yasmine Taylor with 9.9ppg, and Melissa Ellis with 9.5ppg. Ellis and Christine Fleischer lead the Lions with 9.3 and 8.6 rebounds per game respectively.

MEN: The Lambton men hit the road this weekend with home court on the mind. The Lions, 11-5 on the season in OCAA play, sit in a points tie with their competition from Niagara who are 11-6 on the year. The Knights will host the Humber Hawks on Friday night.

A Humber win guarantees a home playoff game for Lambton who would then hold the tiebreaker over the Knights. A Niagara win means that Lambton must sweep this weekend's contests in the Sault.

Lambton is led by a quartet of double-digit scorers in Branden Padgett at 23.4ppg, Mike Lucier 18.1ppg, Shawn Hill 15.0ppg and Jason Marshell 14.5ppg. Lucier is leading the nation in rebounding with 12.4 rebounds per contest.

GOOD LUCK LIONS!
