Shortstop Gracie Harse Commits to Lambton Women’s Softball for 2024 Season

SARNIA – Recruiting season is underway for the Lambton Women’s Softball Program.

Shortstop Gracie Harse has officially announced her commitment to Head Coach Greg Shortt and the Lambton Women’s Softball Program for the 2024 season and beyond.

Harse is the first player in the 2024 recruiting class for Shortt and the rest of the coaching staff.

“Gracie will be a great addition to our team,” said Shortt. “She is a versatile and athletic player that can play positions all over the diamond.”

“She adds a consistent lefty bat to our line-up, and she adds good speed on the bases. We are excited to have Gracie joining us.”

Harse, a five-foot-eleven shortstop from Petrolia, comes to Lambton College from Lambton Central Collegiate & Vocational Institute (LCCVI), which is the same high school that five members of the 2023 Women’s Softball Roster attended. Harse played her summer ball last year with the Wyoming Lady Wranglers, and Shortt was her Head Coach there, as well.

Ava Thompson, Kylee Shortt, Paige Hudson, Riley Brush, and Aubrey Moffatt are all LCCVI alum who played for the Lions last season, along with a handful of other Lambton varsity student-athletes across other programs.

The 2024 OCAA season will be a reunion, of sorts, for Harse. She will already have a level of familiarity with both her coaches as well as her teammates, as many of the returning Lions came through the Lady Wranglers program before ascending to the collegiate ranks.

“I’m excited to commit to the Lions and Lambton College,” said Harse. “I’m excited to get back to playing with a lot of the girls again while getting to know some of the other girls on the roster.”

“I hope to showcase a strong defensive effort and to make some good defensive plays come September when the new season begins.”

Academically, Harse will be enrolled in the Practical Nursing Program at Lambton College.

The Lions are coming off a 2023 season that saw the program once again contend for a playoff spot on the final weekend of the regular season for the second year in a row. Despite coming up short, the Lions continued to make positive strides in their second season in the OCAA, and they have their sights set on a post-season berth in 2024.

The addition of Harse adds more talent and depth to the infield rotation, and her lefty bat adds versatility to the lineup.

Welcome to The Den, Gracie!
