Dani Ramseyer Named an OCAA Star of the Week for Week of September 11 – 17

SARNIA – A shining star.

Women’s Softball second-year shortstop Dani Ramseyer (Shakespeare, Ont.) has been named an OCAA Star of the Week for the week of September 11 – 17, 2023.

The provincial recognition comes on the heels of Ramseyer being named the Lambton Female Student-Athlete of the Week on Monday.

In a pair of games on Saturday afternoon against the visiting Mohawk Mountaineers at Tecumseh Park, Ramseyer showcased a little bit of everything in both games while helping the Lions earn a split in their doubleheader and move to 3-3 on the season.

After battling a wrist injury during the first week of the season, Ramseyer showed signs of returning to normal in Game One against the Mountaineers. While she went hitless at the plate, she started to get her timing back and it was only a matter of time before her breakthrough came. She was still a factor in the field for the Lions during Game One despite the 6-3 loss.

In Game Two, Ramseyer batted second in the lineup and wasted little time in doing damage. In the bottom of the first, Ramseyer picked up a single to get her first hit of the afternoon.

Then, in the second frame, she sent a line drive over the right fielder’s dead that rolled to the fence. Ramseyer then showed off her speed on the base paths, coming around to score for a three-run, inside-the-park home run that put an exclamation point on a six-run inning for the home side.

Ramseyer followed that up with a triple in the third, and she would come all the way around to score again on a Mohawk error. Ramseyer would add another single later, helping the Lions to a 13-7 win.

In total, Ramseyer went a perfect 4-for-4 in Game Two, finishing a double shy of the cycle. She scored a pair of runs herself while driving in four. Her home run in the second inning was the second home run of her collegiate career, both of the inside-the-park variety.

Congratulations, Dani!
