Sarnia Catcher Steele Harris Commits to Lambton Men's Baseball

SARNIA – The Brigade continues to roll into Lambton College.

Catcher Steele Harris has officially announced his commitment to Head Coach Al Bezaire and the Lambton Men’s Baseball Program for the 2023 season.

Harris is the eighth member of the 2023 recruiting class for Bezaire and company. He joins the likes of Jake Noble (Grimsby, Ont.), Mitchell Montague (Welland, Ont.), Beau Elliott (Belle River, Ont.), Tyler Gould (Stratford, Ont.), Logan Klompstra (Sombra, Ont.), Logan Buntrock (Sarnia, Ont.), and Noah Lester (Sarnia, Ont.) in the inaugural recruiting class for Bezaire as Head Coach of the Men’s Baseball program.

Harris, who hails from Sarnia, is also the fourth member of the recruiting class to commit to the program from the reputable Sarnia Brigade organization.

“I’m excited to be committing to Coach Bezaire and the Lambton Men’s Baseball Program,” said Harris. “I’ve played with a few of the guys already on the 22U Brigade team this past summer, and I think the relationships we’ve previously built should carry into this season with the Lions.”

“We should be able to get right into the season without any hiccups since we’ve already learned to work well together.”

Harris, who is entering his final year in the Instrumentation & Control Engineering Technology Program, has been a battery mate with Lions pitcher Cole Brydges throughout their time with the Brigade at various levels. Harris is confident that their familiarity with one another will give the Lions an advantage heading into the 2023 season.

While he serves primarily as a catcher, Harris has also spent time in the outfield. Catcher was an area of focus for Bezaire and company this off-season, as was adding depth to the outfield rotation, and the commitment of Harris checks both of those boxes.

“Steele is a great addition to the Men’s Baseball Program, and we’re very happy to have another Sarnia Brigade player choosing Lambton College,” said James Grant, Manager of Athletics & Student Life at Lambton College. “He is a mature catcher that makes good decisions behind the plate, and his ability to keep runners honest on the basepaths will be a key contributing strength to the squad.”

“He can also hit to all field and will be a solid part of the lineup.”

With his commitment to the Men’s Baseball Program, Harris joins the list of dual-sport student-athletes at Lambton College. He also competes for the Lions Varsity Esports Program, playing on their Valorant and Rocket League teams.

The Lions are coming off a 2022 season that saw the group continue to make positive strides as a relatively young program in the OCAA. There’s a positive buzz surrounding the program, one that continues to grow with each passing day as the 2023 season nears.

Welcome to The Den, Steele!
