Centerfielder Logan Buntrock Commits to Lambton Men’s Baseball

SARNIA – A name fit for the diamond.

Centerfielder Logan Buntrock has officially committed to Head Coach Al Bezaire and the Lambton Men’s Baseball Program for the 2023 season and beyond.

Buntrock is the sixth member of the 2023 recruiting class for Bezaire, his first recruiting cycle as Head Coach of the Lions. Come September, Buntrock will take to the diamond alongside fellow newcomers Jake Noble (Grimsby, Ont.), Mitchell Montague (Welland, Ont.), Beau Elliott (Belle River, Ont.), Tyler Gould (Stratford, Ont.), and Logan Klompstra (Sombra, Ont.).

“It’s exciting to commit here and make it official,” said Buntrock. “All of us new guys coming in, some of us have won together already, and we’re all ready to win here too so it’s going to be a fun ride.”

Buntrock, or ‘Bunts’, comes to Lambton College from Sarnia’s St. Patrick’s Catholic High School. He is the latest in a long line of Fighting Irish alum to commit to the Lions over the years.

This summer, Buntrock split his time playing for three different programs within the Sarnia Brigade organization. He played alongside fellow Lions commit Logan Klompstra with the Midget 18U team that won a Silver Medal in the Premier Baseball League of Ontario (PBLO) for the second consecutive season.

Like Klompstra, Buntrock was also recognized as a PBLO All-Star this season.

Buntrock also spent some time with the 22U AAA Junior Program during their inaugural season, and he played a key role with the Senior AAA team that won the Southwestern League Championship last weekend.

Given his experience playing at various levels and against high level competition, Buntrock was a key focus on the recruiting trail for Bezaire and his coaching staff.

“We are very fortunate to land Logan Buntrock as a recruit,” said Bezaire. “He’s another example of the type of players we are trying to get in here and help build this program.”

“Adding another PBLO All-Star and one who has the versatility to contribute immediately in center, on the mound, and in the infield is a luxury that we are really fortunate to have at our disposal.”

Recruiting local student-athletes has been a focal point for not only Bezaire, but for many Lambton varsity programs this season on the recruiting trail. Buntrock is the latest athlete from Sarnia-Lambton to stay home and compete for the Lions.

Bezaire was quick to point out that it’s a reflection on the entire college.

“The fact that Logan chose to stay home and choose Lambton is a testament to our great Lambton College community and a recognition of what we’re trying to build here as a baseball program,” added Bezaire. “We are very happy and excited to welcome him to the Lions family.”

Academically, Buntrock will be enrolled in the Business – Accounting Program at Lambton College.

The Lions are coming off a 2022 season that saw the group continue to make positive strides as a relatively young program in the OCAA. There’s a positive buzz surrounding the program that continues to grow with each passing day as the 2023 season nears.

The addition of Buntrock to the outfield group, in addition to his versatility, injects more talent and explosiveness to the Lambton lineup on both sides of the ball.

Welcome to The Den, Logan!
