Dani Ramseyer, Logan Buntrock Named Lambton Student-Athletes of the Week for September 11-17

SARNIA – Shine bright like on the diamond.

Second year shortstop Dani Ramseyer (Women’s Softball) and first-year center fielder Logan Buntrock (Sarnia, Ont.) have been named the Lambton Student-Athletes of the Week for the week of September 11-17.

After battling a wrist injury through the first weekend of the season, Ramseyer got back to her old self against the Mohawk Mountaineers on Saturday afternoon at Sarnia’s Tecumseh Park. The Shakespeare native played a key role in helping the Lions earn a split against the Mountaineers, putting up a big performance in Game Two.

In the second game on Saturday, Ramseyer went a perfect 4-for-4 at the plate, finishing a double shy of hitting for the cycle in the process. In the second inning, Ramseyer connected on a pitch from Mohawk pitcher Rachel Lee and sent it over the right fielder’s head towards the fence. She put her speed to good use and came around to score before the ball made its way back to the infield for the opposite field, inside-the-park home run.

It was Ramseyer’s second home run of her Lambton career. Her first, which came last season against Conestoga, was also an inside-the-park home run to right field.

Ramseyer finished the day with four hits and four runs batted in while scoring a pair of runs herself.

First year centerfielder Logan Buntrock has come out of the gates strong to begin his Lions career, and that trend continued in a Friday night sweep of the visiting Centennial Colts.

Batting leadoff in both games, the Sarnia native went a combined 4-for-5 at the plate to help kick-start the offense for the Lions. He picked up three doubles over the course of the evening, two of which came in Game Two where he went a perfect 3-for-3 with a walk. He scored three runs himself on the night while driving in two more.

In addition to his hitting at the plate, Buntrock had his speed on full display throughout the night. Whether it was on the base paths, where he stole five bases, or in the outfield where he made numerous catches after sprinting a good distance, Buntrock used his speed to his advantage and gave the Lions a leg-up on the Colts.

For the year, Buntrock sits third in the OCAA in batting average (.692), tied for second in doubles (4), and first in stolen bases (8) through his first four games.

Congratulations to both Dani and Logan on being named this week’s Lambton Student-Athletes of the Week!

This year’s Athlete of the Week awards are presented by the Lambton College Student Administrative Council.
