Noah Lester, Lauren Goldsack Named First Lambton Student-Athletes of the Week for 2023 Season

SARNIA –Making an impact out of the gate.

First-year student-athletes Noah Lester (Men’s Baseball) and Lauren Goldsack (Women’s Soccer) have been named the Lambton Student-Athletes of the Week for the week of September 4-10.

On the diamond, Lester played a big part in helping the Lions sweep their season-opening doubleheader against the Sheridan Bruins in Mississauga. He went a combined 4-for-8 at the plate, picking up one double and a pair of triples along the way. Lester scored four runs across the two games while also driving in four runs.

In the first game, Lester batted in the ninth spot and played second base. He went 2-for-4 with a double, scoring a pair of runs and driving in two more. In game two, Lester moved over to third base and batted fifth in the lineup. His stat line was the same once more, going 2-for-4 at the plate while scoring two and driving in two.

On the soccer field, Goldsack made quite the first impression in the Lambton goal in her OCAA debut. Despite coming out on the wrong end of a 1-0 decision against the Sheridan Bruins at home, the first-year goalkeeper finished the afternoon with 20 saves and a .952 save percentage.

With the Lions on the defensive for most of the game, Goldsack kept the Lions in the game throughout. Midway through the second half, she made a swinging one-legged save while standing to stun the Bruins and keep the game deadlocked at zeros. She made countless sprawling saves, drawing applause from the Lambton fans in attendance, and she gave the Lions every chance to come away with at least a point.

Congratulations to both Noah and Lauren on being named this week’s Lambton Student-Athletes of the Week!

This year’s Athlete of the Week awards are presented by the Lambton College Student Administrative Council.
