Standout Performances Land Tadre Morse, Brett Fischer Lambton Student-Athletes of the Week Honours

SARNIA – Road warriors.

Tadre Morse (Men’s Basketball) and Brett Fischer (Women’s Basketball) have been named the Lambton College Student-Athletes of the Week for the week of October 23 – 29, 2023 for their road performances this past week on the hardwood.

Despite coming off the bench on Thursday night in London, Morse had an impact on both ends of the floor. Against the Fanshawe Falcons, Morse finished with 16 points, nine rebounds, five assists, and five blocked shots in a 99-94 loss for the Lions.

The fourth-year wing entered the game midway through the first quarter and had an immediate impact, making his first field goal of the night just 15 seconds later. As the game wore on, Morse started to take over for the Lions.

In the third quarter, with his team looking to claw their way out of a 10-point deficit at halftime, Morse did a bit of everything for the Lions. He recorded seven points, four rebounds, three assists, and three blocks to help build some momentum for the Lions heading into the fourth.

On the year, Morse is averaging 15.0 points, 9.3 rebounds, 4.0 assists, and 2.6 blocked shots per game over three games.

Fischer has continued to be a problem for opposing teams on both ends of the floor to begin her Lambton career. In 25 minutes against the Falcons on Thursday night, Fischer recorded 12 points and 10 rebounds for her second consecutive double-double in the regular season, helping the Lions improve to 3-0 with a 10-point win over the Falcons, 65-55.

The fifth year forward from Wallaceburg is in her final year of eligibility after spending the last four seasons with the Western Mustangs in the OUA. Against the Falcons, Fischer continued to be an impact player on both ends of the floor. She recorded her third straight game with 10 rebounds to open the regular season and recorded 12 points in just 25 minutes of action.

Fischer also added two assists, two steals, and one blocked shot in a game that the Lions controlled from start to finish.

For the year, Fischer is averaging 12.3 points and 10.0 rebounds per game, while shooting 44.7% from the field.

Congratulations to both Tadre and Brett on being named this week’s Lambton Student-Athletes of the Week!

This year’s Athlete of the Week awards are presented by the Lambton College Student Administrative Council.
