Tadre Morse, Breanna Pretty Named Lambton Athletes of the Week for November 20 – 26

SARNIA – Road warriors.

For their efforts on the road this past week, wings Tadre Morse (Men’s Basketball) and Breanna Pretty (Women’s Basketball) have been named the Lambton Student-Athletes of the Week for the week of November 20 – 26.

It marks the second time this season that both Morse and Pretty have been named Lambton Student-Athletes of the Week. Morse took home the accolade back on Halloween, while Pretty picked up her first award the next week on November 6th.

Morse seems to have shaken off any rust that he may have had on his game after missing a pair of contests in mid-November due to injury. The fourth-year wing from Rexdale averaged 17.0 points and 6.0 rebounds per game while shooting an even 50.0% from the field as the Lions split their two games this past week.

Wednesday night saw the Lions head on the road to take on the high-powered St. Clair Saints for their second meeting in an 11-day window. Morse recorded 11 points and four rebounds in 22 minutes of action in a 110-67 loss.

On Sunday, Morse and the Lions were in North Bay for their annual trip to Canadore College for a showdown with the Panthers. In a hard-fought 95-90 win for the Lions, Morse was a factor on both ends of the floor. He recorded 23 points, on 9-of-14 shooting from the field, to go along with eight rebounds and two assists in front of a hostile Northern Ontario crowd. Six of his 23 points came in the fourth quarter, helping the Lions complete the comeback and push their record to 5-4 for the year.

For the season, Morse is averaging 12.9 points and 6.7 rebounds per game while shooting 43.4% from the field through seven appearances.

While the Lions played just one game this past week, it was a statement game for both Pretty and the entire Lambton Women’s Basketball Program. In their second meeting with the St. Clair Saints in under two weeks, Pretty and the Lions exacted some revenge on their rivals from Windsor, leading wire-to-wire to pick up the 70-57 win.

Pretty, a fourth-year wing from Sarnia, was at her best throughout the entirety of Wednesday night’s matchup. She flirted with a triple-double, finishing the night with a season-high 22 points to go along with 10 rebounds and eight assists. Pretty finished the night going 7-for-12 (58.3%) from the field, marking the third straight game in which she shot better than 50% from the field.

Thirteen of Pretty’s points came in the second half as the Lions kept the Saints at a comfortable distance from the opening tip through to the final whistle. The Lions were able to avenge a five-point loss from November 11th and hand the Saints their first loss of the season in the process.

Through eight games, Pretty ranks inside the top 10 in the OCAA in several statistical categories, including points per game (7th; 15.4), total points (5th; 123), assists (1st; 37), field goal percentage (4th; 50.0%), and steals (5th; 22).

Congratulations to both Tadre and Breanna on being named this week’s Lambton Student-Athletes of the Week!

This year’s Athlete of the Week awards are presented by the Lambton College Student Administrative Council.
