Lions Bolster Offensive Attack with Commitment of Port Colborne Striker Emma Pruyn

SARNIA – Bolstered the front line with the newest addition.

Striker Emma Pruyn has officially announced her commitment to Head Coach Kevin Simmonds and the Lambton Women’s Soccer Program for the 2024 season, and beyond.

Pruyn is the fourth member of the 2024 recruiting class for Simmonds and the rest of his coaching staff. Pruyn joins Tori Johnston (Sarnia, Ont.), Tahlia Kelch (Sarnia, Ont.), and Sam Fletcher (London, Ont.) as part of the incoming recruiting class for the Lions on the pitch.

“I’m super excited,” said Pruyn. “I enjoy soccer so much and I’ve missed playing it, having taken a year off, so I’m really looking forward to getting back out there.”

“I’m looking forward to making a new family, in a way, with this new group of girls on the soccer program like I’ve had with hockey. Academically, Fire is going to be the rest of my life, so I’m just really excited for all of it.”

Pruyn, a five-foot-four striker, comes to Lambton College by way of Sherkston, Ontario, which is a hamlet of Port Colborne. She attended Lakeshore Catholic High School.

On the soccer field, Pruyn grew up playing in the Port Colborne Storm soccer program. Starting when she was about six years old, Pruyn played through all levels of the Storm system until the end of the 2023 season before taking the current season off. Showcasing her offensive prowess with the Storm, Pruyn led the league in goals scored that year.

Off the field, Pruyn also plays rugby and hockey. On the ice, she’s a winger with the Port Colborne Sailors, again showcasing her offensive prowess on a consistent basis.

As she prepares to start her Lambton College journey in September, Pruyn is hoping to put her skills and drive on the offensive end on full display for Lambton fans from the outset of the season.

“I’m super aggressive, and that’s one thing I take pride in,” added Pruyn with a smile. “I love to just get in there and get those dirty goals, but I’m just there up front and ready to do whatever I can to put the ball in the back of the net.”

Academically, Pruyn will be enrolled in the Pre-Service Firefighter Education & Training Program at Lambton College.

The Lions are coming off a rebuilding year in 2023. The team had a total of fifteen first-year student-athletes on their roster. Now, with a year of collegiate experience on their resume, the Lions are looking to take the next step in 2024 and use last year’s gained experience to their advantage.

The addition of Pruyn to the forward mix will undoubtedly help to bolster their offensive attack for years to come.

Welcome to The Den, Emma!
