Women's Soccer Announces Four Day Try-Out Schedule for the 2019 Season

The new year means new opportunities.

For the Lambton Lions women’s soccer team, the 2019 season presents a new set of challenges and opportunities for both players and coaches alike. On the heels of the 2018 campaign, one that saw the Lions post a record of 0-10 in the regular season, Head Coach Kevin Simmonds is hoping to take a step in the right direction as a program.

Simmonds has been the Head Coach of the women’s soccer program at Lambton College for more than a decade, and he’s seen some success in the role. Under Simmonds’ guidance, the Lions have advanced to four OCAA Championship Final Fours.

Lambton’s last playoff appearance came back in the 2012-13 season. The team posted a record of 4-3-1 in the regular season, earning themselves a postseason berth out of the West Division. Despite their loss to Sheridan in the qualifying game, Simmonds was named Coach of the Year.

After a winless season a year ago, the Lions are looking to take a positive step towards regaining some of the pedigree they had a few years back. Their quest towards the OCAA Women’s Soccer Championship begins with four days of walk-on try-outs. The try-out schedule for the women’s soccer team is as follows:

  • September 3rd - 5 p.m.
  • September 4th - 5 p.m.
  • September 5th - 5 p.m.
  • September 6th - 5 p.m.

All try-outs will take place at the Lambton College Soccer Field.

The 2019 season kicks off on Saturday, September 7th for the Lions when they host the Conestoga Condors for their home opener. The last time that the Lions and Condors met was back in the 2016-17 season, a game in which the Lions posted a clean slate in the regular season finale, 3-0. Lambton will be looking to make it two straight wins against the Condors this year.

All prospective student-athletes are asked to fill out the Prospective Student-Athlete Form online prior to attending the first try-out.
