Laura Guiot Commits to Lambton Women's Basketball

Head Coach Kendel Ross and the Lambton Lions Women’s Basketball Program have added another piece to the puzzle for the 2021-22 season.

The Lions once again tapped into the London basketball community to bolster their roster, as Laura Guiot has committed to the Lions.

Guiot joins Emily Van Hooft (Sarnia, Ont.) in the Lions’ recruiting class for 2021-22.

"Laura is a really wonderful fit with our team," said Ross. "She is extremely hard working, a sponge looking to learn everything she can and a person of high integrity."

"She fit in instantly with the squad in our COVID-friendly training this winter and I can't wait to see her in a uniform next Fall."

Originally born in Bogota, Colombia, Guiot moved to Canada roughly seven years ago and currently lives in London, Ontario. Guiot played her high school basketball for the Spartans at Mother Teresa Secondary School. Having played point guard, shooting guard, and small forward throughout high school and club basketball, Guiot’s versatility will be a welcome addition to the rotation.

Guiot is working towards becoming a Fire Fighter through the Pre-Service Fire program at Lambton College.

When asked what fans can expect from her on the court going forward, Guiot was quick to point out the talent across the entire Lambton roster first and foremost.

“We have phenomenal players coming into the Lambton community and we’re excited to show off our talent,” said Guiot. “As for myself, I hope the fans know that I am ready to put in all I have to get to our goals as a team.”

“The fans should be excited for the upcoming season.”

The Lions are coming off a 2019-20 season that saw the program post an 11-7 record, finishing fourth in the OCAA West Division. After a 96-67 win over the Centennial Colts in the OCAA Crossover Game, the Lions advanced to the 2020 OCAA Women’s Basketball Championship hosted by the St. Clair Saints.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the 2020-21 season was cancelled. The Lions are looking forward to returning to the court in 2021-22, and are thrilled to have Laura as part of the program going forward.

Welcome to The Den, Laura!
