LIONS DROP DOUBLE HEADER IN HOME OPENER

It was competitive sunday afternoon on the soccer pitch for both the Lambton Mens and Womens Varsity team.

 

In mens action, the Lions fought hard until the very end but unfortunately fell 4-2 to Niagara, the third ranked team in the province. The game did not start well as Niagara got off to 2-0 lead just 13 minutes in. Just 6 minutes later, the Lions responded with a huge goal from Tristan Paul-Aguilar In the 19th minute making it the 1st goal on the campaign for the 2018 Lions. Niagara struck back right away making the score 3-1 going into halftime. Both teams would add one more each making the final 4-2 in an exciting back and forth game.

" We are a young talented team that played well for most of the game against a top team in our conference" quoted Team Captain, Beau Stonehouse.

"This was a good lesson for our team on how important it is to play for a full 90 minutes".

The loss puts the Lions at 0-3 on the season. The Men host Redeemer on Thursday, September 21st at 5:00 p.m on our home field.

 

 

 

 

In Women's action, the Ladies fell 2-0 to Niagara in a hard fought game that was competitive until the end. Niagara scored in the 6th and 36th minute respectively taking a 2-0 lead into halftime. The second half was a battle till the end that featured both teams failing to find the back of the net. The Loss puts the team at 0-3 on the season. The ladies host Redeemer on Tuesday, September 19th at 5:00 p.m on our home field.
