Paris Wing Alec Eder Brings Size, Toughness to Lions Front Court for 2024-25 Season

SARNIA – More size is coming to the front court for the Lions.

Wing Alec Eder has officially announced his commitment to Head Coach James Grant and the Lambton Men’s Basketball Program for the 2024-25 season, and beyond.

Eder is the 10th member of the 2024 recruiting class for Grant and the rest of his coaching staff, one that has helped to re-tool the roster for the immediate future while also helping to build a strong foundation for years to come. Eder joins a talented recruiting class that features Loghan LeBlanc (New Waterford, N.S.), Owen Newell (Brussels, Ont.), Cory King (Toronto, Ont.), Jaxson Halward (Woodstock, Ont.), Darius Schmidt (Waterdown, Ont.), Samuel Isaac (Winkler, Man.), Clayton Burgess (Tillsonburg, Ont.), Julian Brooks-Cannon (Woodstock, Ont.), and the returning Tyler Grevers (Woodstock, Ont.).

“We are excited to have him as a Lion,” said Grant. “Alec is a strong wing that, physically, has the ability to contribute to the type of basketball we want to play right away.”

“On top of that, you find out pretty quickly that he is a player that will be integral in developing a great culture for the team.”

Eder, a six-foot-seven wing, comes to Lambton College by way of Paris, Ontario. He played his high school basketball at Paris District High School for the Panthers. In addition to basketball, he competes for the Panthers’ ultimate frisbee program.

Outside of high school, Eder competes for the Hamilton Elite U19 Program under Coach Rye and STAC Basketball. The first-year program is part of the North Pole Hoops Showcase League for the 2024 season.

Looking ahead to September and beginning his collegiate career at Lambton College, Eder is excited about the opportunities that await him in a Lions uniform.

“I’m really excited to come to Lambton College and play ball,” said Eder, who made his commitment official in the Paris District High School gymnasium with a plethora of family, friends, and coaches in attendance to mark the occasion. “It seems like a really good fit for me, both athletically and academically, and it was really cool to have everyone here to support me today.”

“I think I’m most looking forward to having a new family (at Lambton), playing with the team, and getting to know everyone. It’s going to be a new experience and I’m really looking forward to it all.”

Academically, Eder will be enrolled in the Police Foundations program at Lambton College.

Self-described as a no-nonsense player who likes to play a physical game, which opinions were seconded by many of those in attendance at his signing, Eder is looking forward to the challenge of playing at the post-secondary level with the Lions.

Coming into the off-season, Grant and company were looking to add more size to their depth chart for the 2024-25 season, and the years to follow. Eder is the fifth player in the 2024 recruiting class thus far that is listed at six-foot-five or taller, giving the coaching staff more height up and down their roster as they aim to return to the OCAA podium this coming season.

Welcome to The Den, Alec!
