SARNIA – Another giant addition on the diamond for the Lions.
Aidan Littler has officially committed to Head Coach Al Bezaire and the Lambton Men’s Baseball Program for the 2025 season, and beyond.
Littler committed to the Lions alongside his Simcoe Giants teammate Jeryn Shortt. The pair join pitcher/outfielder Julian Concisom (Brampton, Ont.) in the 2025 recruiting class for Bezaire and the rest of the Lions coaching staff.
“It just feels surreal that I’m committing to play college baseball with my best friend and reconnecting with Mike (Walker),” said Littler after making his collegiate decision official. “When I first get here, I kind of want to take things slow and enjoy the college experience, but I also want to win some baseball games.”
Littler, a six-foot-one pitcher and third baseman, comes to Lambton College from Simcoe Composite School and the Simcoe Giants baseball program.
Littler has played for the Giants program since he was young, and he has developed through the program over the years. This past summer, Littler, Shortt, and the Giants won the OBA 18U B Championship.
The opportunity to play collegiate baseball isn’t lost on Littler, as his upbringing in the sport wasn’t your typical pathway. He started from a softball background, making his collegiate commitment for baseball that much more special for him.
Coach Bezaire is excited about the potential and versatility that Littler brings to the roster.
“Aidan brings some always-welcome versatility and will hopefully further lock down our pitching staff in addition to providing some contributions on the offensive side of the ball,” said Bezaire. “On top of that, I’ve heard a lot of great things about him, both as a player and as a teammate.”
“Adding yet another player from Simcoe (Mike Walker, Jeryn Shortt), which in my opinion continues to be another small town like Mitchell, Wyoming, and Port Lambton that consistently produces absolute “ballplayers” is something we are looking forward to.”
For the Lions, Littler checks a couple of key boxes heading into the 2025 season. On the mound, he’s another viable arm that can either start or close games, depending on the situation. At third base, he brings a strong defensive presence at an important position while also possessing a lively bat at the dish.
He was quick to point out both of those aspects of his game when asked what fans can expect to see from him when he puts on a Lambton uniform for the first time come the fall.
“Fans can expect a lot of high intensity play and a lot of emotion,” added Littler. “I’m someone who is reliable on the mound, and someone who can get the team a hit when they need it.”
Academically, Littler will be enrolled in the Sports & Recreation Management Program at Lambton College.
The Lions are coming off a 2024 season that saw the program win an OCAA Silver Medal on their home diamond at the 2024 OCAA Men’s Baseball Championships. Making their first post-season appearance in the program’s brief five-year history, the Lions shut out Durham in the semifinals to advance to the Gold Medal Game. A loss to St. Clair ended their season, but a Silver Medal gave them something to be proud of.
Now, with their sights set on more this coming season, the Lions are hopeful that the addition of Littler can give them the boost they need to get back to the Championship game for a second year in a row.
Welcome to The Den, Aidan!
