Men's Varsity Baseball Venue to Receive $1M in Upgrades

It will be quite the inaugural season for the Lambton Lions Men's Varsity Baseball team. In addition to the excitement that comes from launching a new varsity sport, the City of Sarnia recently announced that over $1M will be spent on improvements at Errol Russell Park, the new home of the Lions.

The upgrades will include a new aluminum grandstand behind the plate as well as the installation of accessible washrooms. The project is expected to be wrapped up by the end of June, ensuring the park is ready for when the Lions throw out their first pitch in September.

We were extremely excited to learn about the upgrades to Errol Russell Park," says Greg Stewart, Manager of Athletics & Recreation. "We are focused on building a strong, community-focused program and the addition of these upgrades to our home park will enhance the professionalism of our team, allowing us to recruit the top athletes in the province."

The Lions will compete in the Ontario Athletic Association (OCAA) against institutions such as Fanshawe, St. Clair, Humber, Seneca, George Brown and Durham. The 20 game season will start the first week of September with the regular season wrapping up by mid-October.
