SARNIA, May 7, 2021 – A large financial donation to Lambton College on behalf of Cestar Group will help enhance academic programming and the student life experience on campus.

The donation will be used primarily to fund increased athletic and recreational offerings at the College and includes the corporate naming rights to the newly titled Cestar Group Athletics & Fitness Complex.

The $2 million donation was announced last week in conjunction with the installation of the new signage at the building’s main entrance, on the east side of the campus.

Hufeng Chen, President of Cestar Group said the organization is pleased to take a leadership position as an educational partner for such an important student and community space. The Cestar Group Athletics & Fitness Complex will continue to contribute to the creation of a vibrant campus life through increased athletic and recreational offerings that emphasize the physical, mental and emotional wellbeing of students.

“Our contribution to Lambton College was inspired by the way this facility is at the heart of the Sarnia-Lambton community,” says Chen. “It really does represent the way the Cestar Group and Lambton College build bridges. And the way we embrace people from all walks of life.”

Lambton College and Cestar Group have a longstanding partnership than spans more than 13 years and has benefitted tens of thousands of students from around the world.

“Lambton College has been working with Cestar Group for many years, and we’re thankful for the tremendous international educational opportunities they have provided for so many of our students,” said Judith Morris, President & CEO, Lambton College. “This donation is an extraordinary tribute to our collaborative partnership, and a huge investment in the mental and physical health and well-being of our students and College community.”

The new sponsorship is part of The Lambton College Foundation’s Envision Tomorrow Capital Campaign, which launched in June 2015 and helped fund the construction of the newly named Cestar Group Athletics & Fitness Complex.

The 40,000 sq. ft. facility, which opened in fall 2018, boasts a 15,000 sq. ft. double gymnasium with seating for 1,241 fans. The world-class space also features two full-sized basketball courts that can be sectioned off for multiple game play, and a 6,000 sq. ft. fitness centre. Other highlights include a new multi-tiered active learning classroom, complete with integrated media and technology, and fully equipped, barrier free varsity change rooms.
